Entering Japan from Overseas (COVID-19)

The following information is for those whose status of residence is "Student."

  Immigration requirements

If you are a non-Japanese international student who is currently living outside of Japan and wish to re-enter Japan, please check if you meet the re-entry requirements (1) or (2) below.
(1) You have a status of residence and left Japan with a re-entry permit (or special re-entry permit) and the deadline for re-entry has not passed yet.
 
(2) You left Japan with a re-entry permit (or special re-entry permit) but are unable to re-enter Japan by the re-entry deadline.
In this case, in order to re-enter Japan, you must request  a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) to the Japanese Embassy or Consulate General in your country or region where you are staying, with the reason that you were unable to re-enter Japan by the re-entry deadline , and obtain a visa.
Contact the International Relations Office about obtaining a Certificate of Eligibility (COE). The procedure takes about three months.

  Entering Japan from overseas

In accordance with the legal status change of COVID-19 to “Class 5” by the Japanese government on May 8, 2023, all border measures, including provisional measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 has been lifted.

1. All entrants will no longer be required to submit either a negative test certificate from a test taken within 72 hours prior to departure or a vaccination certificate of 3 doses.

2.Sample inspections upon entry to Japan which were conducted as a temporary measure for those entering from China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau) on direct passenger flights, has been changed to the same inspections for symptomatic entrants from other countries/regions.

3. New surveillance measures for infectious diseases have been launched to monitor the inflow of new infectious diseases.
 
*Those who were tested as having an infectious disease should not enter the university campuses and other facilities including the Kasai International Dormitory and Kodaira Dormitory until the quarantine period designated by the quarantine station or Musashino University (if any) ends.

  After entering Japan(Enrolled students)

  1. Submit a re-entry report to the International Relations Office.
    Please submit a re-entry report to the International Relations Office immediately after entering Japan (within 2 days). For information on how to submit a re-entry report, click MUSCAT → My Tools → e-Cabinet → International Relations Office → TEMPORARY DEPARTURE FROM JAPAN AND RE-ENTRY.
