| 1924 | Established as Musashino Girls' School in Tsukiji, Tokyo. |
| 1929 | Moved to present location, and established areas of specialization in Japanese Literature, English Literature, History, and Home Economics. |
| 1944 | Dr. Junjiro Takakusu receives Cultural Award. |
| 1945 | Chiyoda Girls School, our sister school, moves to present location on account of having sustained wartime damages. |
| 1950 | Musashino Women's Junior College begins (with degree programs in Japanese Literature, English Literature, History, and Home Economics). |
| 1954 | Changed the name from “Musashino Junior College” to “ >Junior College of Musashino Women's Gakuin.” |
| 1965 | Established Musashino Women's College (four-year college with the Faculty of Literature). |
| 1977 | Established the Department of Early Childhood Education within Jr. College. |
| 1982 | Established a course in Advanced Major in Early Childhood Education within Jr. College |
| 1990 | Changed the name “Department of Home Economics” to “Department of Life and Living.” |
| 1995 | Established the Department of Human Studies in the Faculty of Literature. |
| 1998 | Department of Contemporary Society and Department of Social Service in the Faculty of Contemporary Society established. |
| 1999 | Graduate School of Musashino Women's University (with Department of Human Science and Culture) established. |
| 2000 | A three-year program in Early Education Specialist established within the Department of Early Childhood Education. (in the Jr. College) The number of students increased in the Faculties of Contemporary Society and the Faculty of Human Studies.The Faculty of Literature reorganizes by establishing the Department of Japanese Language and Literature and the Department of English Language and Literature.Jr. College establishes the Department of Creative Design for Living. |
| 2001 | Established the Ressarch Programs in Social System and the Reserch Programs in Welfare Management in the Department of Human Sciences and Culture. |
| 2002 | A one -year program in Creative Design for Living established within the Department of Design for Dwelling/Living. (in the Jr. College)Established the Correspondence Division(Faculty of Human Studies) |
| 2003 | Musashino Women's University changes its name to Musashino University. The departments of Environmental Sciences and Early Childhood Care and Education are established within the Faculty of Human Studies. |
| 2004 | A Faculty of Pharmacy and Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences are established. Coeducation programs commence for all academic departments on a progressive basis starting with the freshmen class. |
| 2006 | A Department of Nursing is established within the Faculty of Nursing. Musashino Women’s Junior College is shut down. |
| 2007 | The Department of Early Childhood Care in the Faculty of Human Studies changes its name to the Department of Childhood Studies. |
| 2008 | The Faculty of Contemporary Society's Department of Contemporary Society Studies is reorganized as the Faculty of Political Science and Economics , Department of Political Science and Economics .The Department of Social Welfare is transferred from the Faculty of Contemporary Society to the Faculty of Human Studies. |
| 2009 | The Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences and the Doctoral Program in Pharmaceutical Sciences are established. The Graduate School of Human Studies and the Master's Program in Human Studies (Correspondence Course) are established. The Department of Environmental Science in the Faculty of Human Studies is reorganized as the Department of Environmental Science in the Faculty of Environmental Science. |

The Department of English Language and Literature in the Faculty of Literature is reorganized as the Department of Global Communication in the Faculty of Global Communication. The Department of Childhood Studies in the Faculty of Human Studies is reorganized as the Department of Childhood Education in the Faculty of Education. The Special Program for Teaching Japanese as a Second Language is established. |
| 2012 | Musashino Joshi Gakuin (educational foundation) changes its name to Musashino University (educational foundation). Ariake Campus is opened in Ariake, Koto-ku. Administrative headquarters and some departments and graduate schools have been relocated to Ariake Campus. The Department of Business Administration is added to the Faculty of Political Science and Economics. |

Graduate School of Buddhist Studies and Doctoral Program in Buddhist Studies are established. Adoctral program is added to the Graduate School of Political Science and Economics. Adoctral program is added to the Graduate School of Nursing. A male dormitory and open space are added in Kodaira. The Research Institute of Japanese Literature is established. |

The program in Japanese Literature in the Graduate School of Language and Culture is recognized as the Program in Japanese Literature in the Graduate school of Literature, and the Program in Language and Education in the Graduate School of Language and Culture is recognized as the Program in Education in the Graduate School of Education. The Speech and Hearing Course is added to the Graduate School of Human and Social Science. The Speech Therapist Training Course (special non-degree course) is established. The Program in Environmental Management in the Graduate School of Environmental Sciences is added to the Distance Learning Division. The Jodo Shinshu Hongwanji Teacher Qualification Course is added to the Distance Learning Division. |
