Measures for Preventing the Spread of COVID-19 to Facilitate the Partial Resumption of Face-to-Face Sessions


To all students and faculty members
As announced in the "Important Notice: Classes for the AY2020 Fall Semester" dated September 14, 2020, some face-to-face classes will resume in the fall semester. Please observe the following measures for preventing the spread of COVID-19 when you visit campus.

At Musashino University, the way of campus entry was changed due to prevent the spread of COVID-19. It is necessary for all students to check and record your temperature at the site of temperature measurement to enter campus. Please check the following measures for ‘when entering campus.’ when you enter campus.

Before entering campus (when leaving home to commute to university or work)

<Measures to be taken by students>

  • Wash your hands regularly and practice self-protection to avoid infection.
  • Check your temperature before leaving and check the "Checklist for Going Out."
  • If you have a fever or feel unwell, avoid going out, contact your campus health center, and get some rest. If you start to feel unwell on your way to campus, return home rather than forcing yourself to complete your journey.
  • Consult a doctor if necessary and, if you do, notify your campus health center of the results.

  • Make sure that you bring your student ID with you.
  • If you need to take an online class on campus before or after a face-to-face class, make sure that you bring a fully charged computer, a headset equipped with a microphone, etc. (take the class in a designated classroom that has access to the on-campus Wi-Fi environment).
    * Information concerning classrooms designated for taking online classes and precautions for their use will be announced separately.
  • Always wear a mask on public transportation during your commute, avoid conversations, and be conscious of your surroundings (e.g., maintain a certain distance from others). Take particular care when conversing with friends, etc.

<Measures to be taken by faculty members>

 
  • Wash your hands regularly and practice self-protection to avoid infection.

  • If you have a fever or feel unwell, avoid going out, contact the parties indicated below, and get some rest. If you start to feel unwell on your way to work, return home immediately rather than forcing yourself to complete your journey.
  • Consult a doctor if necessary and, if you do, notify the university of the results. If you become or are suspected of having become a close contact, notify the university immediately to receive instructions.

    Instructors: Your department (chairperson of department) and the Personnel Department (or the Faculty Administrative Office)
    * If your class needs to be canceled, postponed or otherwise rescheduled due to you feeling unwell, etc., contact the Academic Affairs Administrative Office and the Musashino Academic Affairs Administrative Office, as well.

    Staff: Your department (head of department)
    Always wear a mask on public transportation during your commute, avoid conversations, and be conscious of your surroundings (e.g., maintain a certain distance from others).
When entering campus

  • Students and those who are outside of the university are allowed to enter campus by check and record your temperature at the site of temperature measurement.

<Measures to be taken by students>

    * The sites of temperature measurement are
  •  (In Aariake campus)      Student Hall on the 1st floor, Building #3 (near Monument Square.) or 2nd floor, Building #4.
  • (In Musashino campus)  Building #5(from the main gate) or Building #8(from the north gate).
  • Wear a mask when you enter.
  • Please check and record your temperature at the site of temperature measurement, and touch the card reader with your student card. If you forgot the student card, please tell it to staffs and record it.
  • If   you have a fever of 37.5 degrees or higher, please recheck your temperature.  You will not be allowed to enter the campus.  You should go home and rest.  If you are worried about your condition, consult with a medical institution.
  • Students who come to campus by bicycle, please park it in the designated parking area and enter from the site of temperature measurement.
    <Notes> Students cannot enter from Building #1 in Ariake campus.
  • Opening hours of the temperature measurement are between 8.30 AM and 6.30 PM.
  • You do not need to check yourtemperature when you leave the campus.
    * If you forget your mask, purchase one at an on-campus shop and wear it.
From entering campus to the start of class

  • After you enter campus, wash and disinfect your hands. Particularly when you enter or leave a classroom, etc., disinfect your hands using the disinfectant provided in that area.
  • The attendance card readers installed in the classrooms have not been set up yet. Follow the instructions provided by your class instructor regarding attendance confirmation.
  • Seats are allocated to maintain social distancing, and information on seat availability will be posted in your classroom, etc. Check this information before taking a seat.
  • When using a classroom, etc., ensure that the classroom is well ventilated by keeping the windows and doors open at all times if possible or opening them at given intervals, while taking into consideration the weather and the classroom usage.
  • If you forget your mask, purchase one at an on-campus shop and wear it.

<Measures to be taken by Musashino University>

  • Prompt persons entering campus to wash and disinfect their hands.
  • In principle, place disinfectant at the entrance/exit for each facility, floor, restroom, etc.
  • To prevent droplet infection during class, maintain a distance of at least 1 m between instructors and students by reducing the number of students for each class to no more than half the classroom capacity. For classes that need to be held in a room other than a regular classroom in order to conduct experiments or practical training, adopt droplet infection prevention measures that are equivalent to maintaining a distance of at least 1 m.
  • When using a classroom, etc., ensure that the classroom is well ventilated by keeping the windows and doors open at all times if possible or opening them at given intervals, while taking into consideration the weather and the classroom usage.
  • When cleaning a classroom, etc., focus on wiping any doorknobs and light switches that may be touched by an unspecified large number of people.
During class

  • Always wear a mask and avoid private conversations or talking in a loud voice.
  • Notify your instructor immediately if you feel unwell during class.
  • If you need to take online classes on campus before or after a face-to-face class, take the online class in a designated classroom that has access to the on-campus Wi-Fi environment. In principle, you should bring a fully charged computer, a headset equipped with a microphone, etc.
    * Information concerning classrooms designated for taking online classes and precautions for their use will be announced separately.

<Measures to be taken by Musashino University>

  • Instructors will wear face shields as necessary in cases where there will be an increased need for conversation and speaking with students.
  • For face-to-face classes, consideration will be given to students who experience commuting difficulties due to exceptional circumstances so that they can continue to learn online or through other means.
During breaks

<Measures to be taken by students>

  • Avoid the 3Cs (closed spaces, crowded places, and close-contact settings), avoid group gatherings, and be considerate of friends and surroundings when conversing (e.g., maintain a certain distance).
  • Do not randomly go to buildings or areas that are unrelated to your classes or the reason for you visiting campus.
  • Avoid talking while eating and avoid the 3Cs while you eat.
  • Use the tables and chairs in the eating area without moving them, and do not sit facing another person.
  • If there are many people in a restroom, use a different one to avoid the 3Cs.
  • Use of the Student Hall is prohibited at the Ariake Campus, but it is allowed at the Musashino Campus with limited capacity.
  • Use of some common areas other than the Student Halls is prohibited.
  • Leave campus immediately after you have finished attending class or using a facility on campus.
    * You cannot remain on campus and take part in group activities without permission.

  • Faculty members will urge students who are in any of the 3Cs or are talking loudly to maintain a certain distance.
From leaving campus to arriving home

  • When class is over, avoid eating with others, go home immediately, and refrain from eating with friends, etc.
  • Always wear a mask on public transportation during your commute, avoid conversations, and be conscious of your surroundings (e.g., maintain a certain distance from others). Take particular care when conversing with friends, etc.
  • If you develop a fever or feel unwell in the days following a visit to campus, avoid going out, contact your campus health center, and get some rest. Consult a doctor if necessary and, if you do, notify your campus health center of the results.
