Book purchase

Users may submit purchase requests for books which the library does not have.
Confirm the requested item is not in the library holdings via OPAC in advance.
The acceptability will be notified via e-mail.
The item will be available at the library approximately six weeks after the purchase decision is made.
Interlibrary loan or photocopy service is available for urgent requests.

Make book purchase requests online or in person.

  • Online:
    Make a request via MyLibrary * (faculty, undergraduate and graduate students (includes Distance Learning Division) only).

  • In person:
    Fill in a "Book Purchase Request Form" with the required information (user name and contact address, book title, author, ISBN, etc.) and hand in at the circulation desk.

Acceptable purchase requests from

  • undergraduate students: around 10 books per year.
  • graduate students: around 15 books per year.

  • Books necessary for study and student life
  • Books necessary for faculty's research activities

[Inappropriate books as library holdings]

  • Excessively expensive items
  • Inexpensive items
  • How-to books
  • Magazines
  • Paperbacks
  • Comic books
  • Items excessively biased towards individual interests and preferences
  • Items which official payment is impossible (ex. unavailable at bookstores) CDs, audio tapes, etc.
  • IItems which might violate the Copyright Act (ex. audiovisual materials)
  • Items for personal use (ex. workbooks)
  • Items which the library already has

To faculty members

  • Consult with the library committee member of your faculty about your purchase request for serial publications.
