テキサス州立大学が来訪し、文化・メディアに関する学生交流会を行いました Texas State University visits MU for a Student Exchange on Culture & the Media

6月14日に米国・テキサス州立大学メディア専攻の学生及び教職員約20名が有明キャンパスに来訪しました。テキサス州立大学の学生は日本について学ぶため、またメディア関連の企業や大学視察を目的とし数週間東京に滞在し、武蔵野大学では文化およびメディアリテラシーの重要性について本学の学生と意見交換を行いました。
交流会は、国際課の協力のもとグローバルビジネス学科が主体となり約3時間実施されました。武蔵野大学からは広報、マーケティングコミュニケーション、デジタル・メディア等について学ぶグローバルビジネス学科2~4年生の学生25名と、グローバルコミュニケーション学科4年の学生1名が参加しました。両大学の学生たちは文化問題、従来のメディアと新しいデジタル・メディアにおける現在と今後の発展についてディスカッションやプレゼンテーションを行いました。
テキサス州立大学は4万人を超える学生が在籍する、米国・テキサスのサンマルコスに位置する大学で、第36代米国大統領を務めたリンドン・ジョンソンが卒業した大学としても知られています。今回、Gilbert Martinez教授（ジャーナリズム・マスコミ学部部長補佐および上級講師）と同学部のProf. John Zmiklyがメディアをテーマに13名の学生を引率し、本学へ来訪しました。
学生交流会は国際課の田才課長による東京と武蔵野大学の紹介でスタートし、ディスカッションとプレゼンテーション終了後は立食パーティーが開かれ、参加者同士が親睦を深めあいました。

Ariake, June 14—Students from Texas State University (USA) visited Musashino University’s Ariake Campus for an international student exchange discussion on the importance of cultural and media literacy. The Texas State students, who are all majoring in media studies, have been learning about Japan over the past several weeks and visiting media companies and universities in Tokyo.
Musashino University’s Global Business department, together with the International Relations Office (IRO), hosted a three-hour session at its Ariake Campus.  Students talked about cultural issues and the recent and possibly future developments in the traditional media and the new digital media.  Twenty-five 2^nd, 3^rd, and 4^th year students from Global Business (GB) and one 4^th year student from Global Communication (GC) participated. Most of the GB and GC students are studying public relations, marketing communications, and digital media.
Prof. Gilbert Martinez, assistant director & senior lecturer in the School of Journalism & Mass Communication, together with Prof. John Zmikly, also with the School of Journalism & Mass Communication, led the Texas State University group, which is on a media tour of Japan.  Texas State University, located in San Marcos, Texas, has more than 40,000 students.  Its most famous graduate is former U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson.
Musashino University’s IRO, directed by Mr. Taiju Tasai, and Ms. Aika Konno, welcomed the Texas State group and kicked off the event with an introduction to Tokyo and Musashino University.
The international student exchange was capped with a buffet lunch, informal discussions, and the forming of fast friendships.
