I am currently studying marketing in the master’s program at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom after graduating from Musashino University. The campus of the University of Birmingham is situated in the southern part of Birmingham, with a green and spacious campus featuring modern facilities and a mix of historic and contemporary architecture. Its main library is the area where I spent most of my self-study.
 

The courses I have taken for each semester are quite challenging, but interesting. The most significant difference that I have noticed from my Master’s degree to my Bachelor’s degree is that when working on assignments, the client company you need to analyze and provide suggestions for will genuinely review and consider your ideas. For instance, I had to evaluate and criticize the marketing communications of a real client, providing creative ideas to improve the original communication content, along with a self-made virtual video to support my ideas. It took me a considerable amount of time to collect the video resources. The students have to present their ideas to the real client face-to-face at the end of semester, explaining their concepts and responding to questions from the client.
 

Overall, life in Birmingham is quite different from Tokyo, and it is always fascinating for me to experience a new culture in a new environment. My academic journey at the University of Birmingham has not only provided me with a challenging experience in marketing but has also offered an opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios.
