Bold Amartaivan

Data Analyst, Bloomberg Japan L.P.

(Graduated from MU in 2023)

After graduating from Musashino University, I started a new chapter of my life as a data analyst at Bloomberg in April 2023. Bloomberg has a team-oriented structure, where each team has a different work style, KIPs (Key Performance Indicators) and atmosphere and my experience may not reflect that of other new hires. With that said I was assigned to the Global Data Analytics team. While every team has a certain degree of client engagement, for my team it is the main task to engage clients, determine the correct ownership of dataset, and respond to client queries in a timely manner. The learning curve is steep, as team members need to learn fundamentals on all products within a relatively short period. It can be overwhelming but ultimately rewarding as you gain knowledge on a wide variety of topics such commodities, derivatives, fixed income products and the list goes on. After settling into the role, team members can choose a product they wish to specialize in; personally, I am currently specialized in corporate action covering Japan, Korea, Australia, and New Zealand.

A significant part of my journey in Japan was spent at the Department of Global Business at Musashino University. The finance courses provided by the university are highly recommended for anyone interested in working for a financial company. I am particularly glad that I attended Professor Watanabe’s seminar. Not only is the overall seminar well designed - as the professor himself has extensive career experience in finance- but his advice and guidance on job hunting are invaluable. Overall, I am grateful for Musashino University for equipping me with solid foundational skills and knowledge that I can build upon in my career and providing opportunity to connect with experienced professionals.
